Shining a Spotlight on Black-Owned Businesses within Anaheim Packing District

An Underground Music Scene You Don't Want to Miss!

If you know, you know! One of the best venues in Orange County to groove to live music, is tucked away in what was once the basement of a citrus packaging facility. Follow your ears to the sounds behind a somewhat hidden chapel-shaped door. There's your senses will be sweetly swept away with soulful sounds, giant loaded baked potatoes, craft cocktails and an uncontrollable urge to dance. The Stuffed Potato offers dinner show tickets almost every Saturday night, unless "Souled Out!" Visit www.thestuffedpotato.com to view upcoming shows with some of the most amazing talent you'll find, featuring singers and musicians who have played along household names, such as Rose Royce, Chaka Khan, Sheila E and Parliament-Funkadelic, just to name a few! Follow @TheStuffedPotatoExperience on Instagram to be the first to hear about new shows before they sell out!

A Soul-Delicious Story

We also celebrate the accomplishments of our own Gretchen "Nana" Shoemaker, as well as her daughter Nika Shoemaker-Machado. Georgia's Restaurant, one of the best soul food restaurants in Orange County, started as a small catering company. Check out our Made In Anaheim blog, featuring Nana's story, including how the restaurant came to be and who the restaurant is named after. Follow @GeorgiasSoul on Instagram for soul delicious content!

Sowing Seeds in Our Community

Poppy & Seed is the brain child of husband and wife power couple, Kwini and Chef Michael Reed! This small-plate, farm-to-fork restaurant and bar at Farmers Park's greenhouse and chef's garden has made huge strides in the restaurant industry since their opening in 2021.

If you think the Reeds look familiar, it may be because you have seen them at their flagship restaurant in the Flower District of Downtown LA: Poppy and Rose. Perhaps you recognize them from their heroic efforts in feeding thousands of frontline workers as featured on the Ellen Show, or maybe you have benefitted from their educational work in the community, preparing people with limited resources for careers in the restaurant industry. Chef Michael has been featured in countless notable national publications praising his food and philosophy. He even beat out Chef Alex Guarnaschelli on Food Network's "Alex Vs America" and was recently announced as a James Beard Foundation Best Chef Semifinalist! When she's not running the operations of the restaurants, Kwini can be found empowering the community by leading by example and has been featured on panels, podcasts and interviews sharing her inspirational philosophies and philanthropic methods.

Follow @poppyandseedoc on Instagram for future updates about Poppy and Seed!

Keep an eye out for ticket to Masters of Taste 2023, which Michael and Kwini will be hosting!
